| This course will introduce teachers to the new Georgia Performance Standards, backward design as it applies to language teaching, and Thematic Units. Participants will learn how to use Thematic Units in a performance based environment as well as a variety of assessments. Teachers who have not been able to attend training on the GPS would benefit from this PLU workshop. | |

Presenters will model an easy-to-use template for unit design along with assessment tasks and lively activities in Spanish and French that will lead students to increased communication, cultural understanding and enthusiasm for the target language. | This interactive workshop will model how theatrical games and exercises can be used to engage students' bodies and minds in building community, acquiring linguistic and cultural competence, and even resolving conflict. Participants will play physical games and exercises throughout the workshop and discuss possible applications of these techniques in their classes. | |
