FLAG - WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT TO JOIN?
When looking at teaching organizations, it is our duty and our responsibility
to continue growing and learning as professionals. FLAG (Foreign Language
Association of Georgia) is the official professional organization for foreign
language teachers in Georgia. FLAG offers support for all levels of education
from K-12 to university, for private as well as public schools.
How teachers can become involved in FLAG:
- Present and/or attend the annual FLAG conference - exchange ideas, attend
workshops, earn PLU credits, learn new methods and approaches to teaching;
- FLAG MS/HS Spoken Language Contests/FLES Spoken Language Contest - teachers'
students can participate yearly, teachers judge students from around the state;
- The Fall Features Newsletter - Receive information about important
dates for the upcoming school year, staff development opportunities, things
happening around the state;
- The FLAG Journal - Offers a professional journal to its members.
The Journal publishes articles on pedagogy at the various grade levels,
as well as research and reports on information pertinent to the membership.
The Journal is beginning a peer-reviewed published article to be
included each year. Members are encouraged to submit articles for
publication.

the FLAG website and for the first time this year, there will be a stipend
given for the Teacher/Professor of the Year and also for the Teacher of Promise;

language instruction and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and
practices.

northern or southern part of the state at the FLAG MS/HS Spoken Language Contest;
