WRITING AND SUBMITTING COPY FOR
THE BEACON

CONTRIBUTIONS
Contributions of the following kind are welcomed: original articles on the teaching of foreign language, literature, and cultures; papers presented at meetings; announcements of meetings and reports of proceedings; news items of professional interest; reviews of books, materials, and films; creative writing by teachers and students.

TOPIC
You may write about something that has worked for you in the classroom, observations you have made through teaching foreign languages, some materials you have made or used which are very effective, an experience you have had as a foreign language teacher.

BODY OF ARTICLE
Give the highlights of your findings so that other teachers may follow your lead. Explain in a systematic or chronological way what you have observed. Describe the materials you have used and explain how they were used and how they worked. Narrate and discuss your experience, giving both positive and negative sides, if applicable.

LENGTH
The article need not be long--approximately one-half to one page in length, longer if you want. Writing an article for The Beacon should not be an imposing task. We simply want input from you, the foreign language educators of Georgia, to find out what is working in your classroom. If you are unsure about the format or the way to express what you want to say, the editorial staff at The Beacon is always ready to assist you. Just call or ask or mark your copy with a question mark on the parts which may need editing.

FORMS

Please note:
All forms are in separate, individual pages/documents so that displaying, printing, and/or downloading will be easier and more convenient. Under normal circumstances, most any browser should display and most any printer should print these forms fine (although printing might be somewhat slow). If this does not work, try changing your browser settings (display font and page margins for printing). If none of this works, just send--as applicable--formless applications, nominations etc., or contact us and we will mail or fax you the appropriate forms.
