We've been hosting these for years in Albany and Atlanta. Now there's a new, third location!

Savannah Georgia FLAG Middle School -High School Spoken Language Contest
Saturday, January 28th, 2012
8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Savannah/Chatham County - Coastal Middle School

Based on Teacher and Student demand, we are thrilled to announce a THIRD location for the annual FLAG Spoken Language contest for teachers and students. Savannah will host its first ever competition at Coastal Middle School in Savannah/Chatham County on Saturday, January 28th, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Principal Coursey of Coastal Middle School, Charles Neidlinger, World Languages Coordinator for Chatham County Schools and Rhonda Wells, World Languages Coordinator for DeKalb County Schools for making this event possible.

To make this event successful, we are hoping for a huge turnout from teachers and students across the state, but particularly from schools in central, south, and southeast Georgia.

We always need judges, and we would like to open this contest up to elementary, middle, high, and higher education instructors of language who would be interested in volunteering.

Feel free to forward this information to any teacher or administrator who might be interested. We are hoping for a huge turnout! Along with our elementary contest, the middle and high school Spoken Language Contests are an absolute joy to judge and a wonderful opportunity for students to practice their spoken language skills outside the regular classroom, but in a safe, educational environment.

Remember: As our colleges and universities are looking for ways to help students differentiate in the admissions process, the FLAG Spoken Language Contest has become one of the best ways for students to demonstrate cultural competence and language aptitude when applying to university.
