FLAG MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL
SPOKEN LANGUAGE CONTEST

Invitation 2010

VP For Language Contests: Rhonda Wells
Contest Chair Miller Grove: Rhonda Wells
Contest Chair Darton: Polly Stadnik

Dear Foreign Language Educators:

I am excited on behalf of FLAG to invite all foreign language teachers of Georgia to enter their students in the 2010 Middle & High School Spoken Language Contest, which will be held on Saturday, March 27 at Miller Grove High School and on Saturday, April 10 at Darton College in Albany. The contest evaluates language students on their ability to communicate in the target language by conversation with an interviewer. Latin students will compete in an oratorical contest. If your students were any of the over 500 students that took part in the last contests then you know the reward these young people felt from participating.

You will not receive a contest packet in the mail. Teachers will register their students electronically by going to the FLAG Spoken Language Contest website.

Registration for the contest locations will be under the direction of

  • Rhonda Wells for the Miller Grove HS site and
  • Polly Stadnik for the Darton College site.

Contact FLAG VP for Language Contests Rhonda Wells (contests@flageorgia.org) if you have any additional questions or problems registering students for the contest.

Since nearly one hundred judges are needed to make this contest successful, we are requiring each school to send at least one judge. Schools who send more than 10 students should send at least one judge for each 7 or 8 students. This will ensure we have enough judges the day of the contest.

Schedule of Events
(for both locations!)
8:00 - 9:00Registration
8:30 - 9:00Judges Meeting
9:00 - 11:30Student Interviews

Please forward this contest information to your colleagues and remember the February 12 deadline. We look forward to seeing you and your students at the contest!

Sincerely,
Rhonda Wells, FLAG VP For Language Contests
