FLAG MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL
SPOKEN LANGUAGE CONTEST
Invitation 2012
Dear Foreign Language Educators:
I am excited on behalf of FLAG to invite all foreign language teachers of
Georgia to enter their students in the 2012 Middle & High School
Spoken Language Contest, which will be held on Saturday, January 28 at Coastal
Middle School (Savannah/Chatham Schools), Saturday, March 3 at Decatur High
School, and on Saturday, April 14, at Darton College in Albany. The contest
evaluates language students on their ability to communicate in the target
language by conversation with an interviewer. Latin students will compete in
an oratorical contest. If your students were any of the over 500 students
that took part in the last contests then you know the
reward these young people felt from participating.
You will not receive a contest packet in the mail. Teachers will register
their students online at the FLAG Spoken Language Contest
website.
Registration for the contest locations will be under the direction of
- Charles Neidlinger for the Coastal Middle School site
- Rhonda Wells for the Decatur HS site
- Polly Stadnik for the Darton College site.
Contact FLAG VP for Language Contests
Rhonda Wells (contests@flageorgia.org)
if you have any additional questions or problems registering students for the contest.
Since nearly one hundred judges are needed to make this contest successful,
we are requiring each school to send at least one judge. Schools who send
more than 10 students should send at least one judge for each 7 or 8 students.
This will ensure we have enough judges the day of the contest.
Schedule of Events
(for both locations!) |
8:00 - 9:00 | Registration |
| 8:30 - 9:00 | Judges Meeting |
| 9:00 - 11:30 | Student Interviews |
Please forward this contest information to your colleagues and remember the
deadlines. We look forward to seeing you and your students at the contest!
Sincerely,
Rhonda Wells, FLAG VP For Language Contests
